Achievements
- We have been awarded the Music Mark award for our commitment to Music education in schools. We were nominated by Inspire Culture for this award. It recognised the importance of the Arts at Greenwood and how music is valued and the music education we provide. From our exciting music curriculum, singing assemblies, choir performances, children learning to play a Ukulele, all children performing in Year Group shows at least once a year, our viola playing Musician in Residence to listening to a variety of music every day and taking all children to the local theatre and Year 6 to a West End Musical every year ; music is threaded through all we do.
- We have recently been awarded the Platinum Active Mark award for Sporting Participation (one of only a handful of schools in the County to get it) This is as a result of the hard work of our PE team, Mr Brown and Mrs Aspinall supported by staff in participating in a wealth of sporting competitions with other schools, after school sports clubs and our fantastic PE Curriculum. We annually welcome a range of coaches who work with our Greenwood Stars on sports such as Football, Basketball, Cricket, Gymnastics, Dance and many more. We also participate in the FLYING HIGH SPORTS days. In Summer of 2024 our Key Stage One Team won this competition and received the trophy at the Flying High Awards Evening at The National Ice Arena.
- We are the only school in Nottinghamshire to sit on the Notts Cultural Board, part of the Captivate Project will partners from Cultural & Arts Bodies across the county. We have been awarded Arts Award Centre status. Our children have the opportunity to visit the Ballet (F2) and receive a visit from Ballerinas who lead a workshop. We work with a Graffiti Artist (Y4) who helps the children create their own street art canvas. An exhibition of our art work is proudly displayed in our local library. ARTS are valued at Greenwood. In the Summer Term annually, ARTS are the driver for our curriculum. Across the year different year groups study different artists and their work and this inspires children to produce work in their style.
